This policy explains what the research extension and study portal collect, how the data is used, and how to contact the research team about privacy questions.
Introduction
We are committed to respecting and protecting participant privacy. This privacy policy outlines the information collected by the Chrome extension and study portal, how we use and protect that information, and the parties with whom we share it.
Data Collection
When you use the research extension during the study task, we collect:
- Clicks on links within the Google News website during the study task.
- Duration of activity on the Google News website for a period of up to 30 minutes.
- The participant or study identifier needed to connect the task record to the research workflow.
Use of Data
The data collected by the extension and portal is used solely for understanding and analyzing interaction with Google News in the context of this research study.
Sharing of Data
We do not share, sell, or trade participant data with third parties. We may disclose aggregated information, or information that does not identify an individual, in research publications or presentations.
Data Security
We maintain physical, electronic, and managerial safeguards designed to protect and secure the information collected for this study.
Policy Updates
We may update this privacy policy from time to time by posting a new version on this page. Changes are effective when they are posted.
